Delta's Dowry Box

The dowry box of the Danube Delta is a contemporary abstraction of one of the most common objects found in the local household. The most valuable things were kept in the dowry box - the family legacy, being a keepsake of their rites of passage (van Gennep “rites of passage”).

In contemporary vision, the dowry box is no longer a taboo, a locked box, but opens wide to offer viewers access to the mysteries of local collective memory.
